No Complaints

No complaints here.

That's hardly true - as I've had a dull headache for the past two weeks now.  Mild enough to try coffee over pain killers, chronic enough to make me want to gouge my eyes out with a teaspoon to relieve the pressure.

No complaints here.

My calendar looks like someone colored in all the blocks for shits and giggles, but it's really that booked with projects and clients right up until I leave for vacation.  So much for finding a yoga class this month.

No complaints here.

My Christmas decorations are in boxes buried deep in my basement and Lord only knows when I will have time to put them up with my crazy schedule and travel the next few weeks.  This could be Halloween all over again. No pumpkin...no tree.

No complaints here.

Seriously.

No complaints.  I have a roof over my head.  Clothes on my back.  A job.  A wonderful family.  Fabulous friends.

I am not running for my life.  Looking for safe haven.  Mourning dead friends and loved ones.

I am not persecuted for my religion.  Harassed for the color of my skin.  Marginalized because of my gender.  Jailed because of my ideas.

Complaints are about perspective.  And context.

In context with what's happening in the world, I have NO complaints.

Regina Brett once wrote, "If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back."

The thing is, I'd bet $100 that there are a million people who would take my problems out of the pile.  I'm sure I would take mine.

Instead of wallowing in a second's worth of self-pity, I light a candle and pray for those whose challenges are incomprehensibly, unfathomably heartbreaking.  I pray for peace.

Hand to God - no complaints here.  Just gratitude.
